Notes of the Communications Committee Meeting Held

Those present: Frankie Laney, Co-Chair (Carlsbad Convention & Visitors Bureau) Sharon Tootle, Co-Chair, Pete Aadland, Advisory Officer (NCTD) Phyllis Hall (NCTD Staff Support)

I.   Call to Order

     Phyllis Hall called the meeting to order at 9:11 a.m.

II.  Approval of Notes

     Meeting notes from October 12, 2006 were approved.

III.  Sharon Tootle introduced herself to the committee. Sharon has an extensive background in public relations with a non-profit organization. She looks forward to working with TABNC.

IV.  Old Business

Due to job demands and the expansion of SD Home & Garden Magazine, Annie Cochran has to step down as the Communications Committee Chair, but she will continue to work with TABNC. Frankie Laney and Sharon Tootle volunteered to take over the role as Co-Chairs of the committee.

V.  New Business

The committee discussed the need to write a letter to state legislators requesting that they support the restoration of the transit funding to its maximum extent and oppose the Governor's proposal to redirect 1.1 billion in crucial transit funding. The letter will be brought before the Board at the General Meeting on April 26, 2007 for approval.

A tentative date for the TABNC Mover Award Ceremony is scheduled for March 14, 2008. Discussion also took place about the WTS Presentation in the fall.
