Notes of the Communications & Membership Committee Meeting

Those present: Frankie Laney, Co-Chair (Carlsbad Convention & Visitors Bureau), Debra Rosen (Downtown Business Association of Escondido), Sarah Benson (NCTD), Pete Aadland (NCTD), Phyllis Hall (NCTD Staff Support)

I.   Call to Order

     The meeting began at 9:10 am.

II.  Old Business

Constant Contact:

A.
One year renewal has been paid thanks to the sponsorship of the Downtown Business Association of Escondido

B.
Frankie Laney and Sarah Benson will work on creating the template for mid-monthly TABNC news called "News you can use". This will replace the previous "TABNC Tidbits". With information from the Marketing/Communications committee members, Frankie will e-mail TABNC members through Constant Contact, with monthly news release. The release will be about current transit related events, issues or news

C.
First monthly "News you can Use" release will be by Feb. 15th and will include a link to NCTD website to recruit Sprinter Station Ambassadors

III. New Business

NC Business Expo invitation:

A.
Ted Owen will conduct a 20 minute seminar on "How transit is good for your business and the bottom line".

B.
TABNC Table Top materials to be distributed, possibly by TABNC members. They will collect names and e-mail addresses to help build membership

C.
Second half of seminar topic suggestionsTBD, suggested topics are:
    1. Private-Public Partnerships in Transit Corridors
    2. Transit Oriented Development and Community Facilities Districts
    3. Establishing a Transit Demand Program
    4. How Transportation Financing Works in Government

IV. Next Meeting – April 8, 2008 @ 9 AM
